Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to gather here today. Before opening the 75th Anniversary Meeting of the Japanese Parliamentary Committee for World Federation, I wish to note that this Committee was founded in 1949, and this year marks the 75th anniversary of its funding. Today, following the General Assembly, Mr. Sukehiro Hasegawa, former Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, will speak on the draft proposal for the reform of the United Nations, which I would like you all to discuss based on his presentation. I hope we can incorporate the contents of the discussion into a written document and propose it to the Prime Minister’s Office later.
